The Lusail Iconic Stadium will be the heart of the 2022 World Cup. The opening ceremony, group stage games and the final will be hosted here.

The new stadium will be in the brand new city of Lusail that has been under construction for a few years.


Al-Khor Stadium

Al Khor Stadium

The Desert Tent Stadium. Group stage games and half-finals.

Capacity:

60,000 Seats. After the World Cup, the upper levels will be deconstructed and the capacity will be decreased to 32,000 seats. In cooperation with the FIFA, the stands will be donated to developing countries.

Special feature:

The stadium’s architecture will remind visitors of the Qatari Nomads‘ tents.


Doha Port Stadium

The Island Stadium. Group stage games, round of sixteen, quarter finals.

Special feature:

The stadium is on an artificial island in Doha’s port. The sea water streams over its façade, cooling the inside space. After the World Cup, the stadium will be deconstructed completely and donated to developing countries.


Umm Salal Stadium

The fortress stadium. Group stage games, round of sixteen, quarter finals.

45,120 Seats. After the World Cup: Decreased to 25,500 Seats

Special feature:

The stadium is within visual range of the historical Umm-Samal-Fortress which also influences the stadiums architecture. After the World Cup, the stadium will be used by local teams.


Education City Stadium

The Diamond-Stadium. Group stage games, round of sixteen.

45,350 Seats. After the World Cup: Decreased to 25,000 Seats

Special feature:

The stadium will have the shape of a diamond. It will sparkle during the day and glow during the night. After the World Cup, it will be used for events of Qatar and Bahrain universities.


Khalifa International-Stadium

Special feature:

At the Khalifa International Stadium, the Asia Games 2006 were hosted. It features huge arcs and is part of a big sports building which features a mega arena as well as a 300 meter tower.

The stadium’s architecture reminds one of the boats used by fishermen in the Gulf. That’s why arriving at the stadium will be something very special – among other options, it will be accessible via aqua taxis.

The stadium facade’s design will integrate all participating nations‘ flags.

The stadium will be available to the university’s young athletes after the World Cup.


Sports City Stadium

The flexible stadium. Group stage games, third place play-off.

The Sports City Stadium will have an extendable roof and a pitch that can partially be transformed.

The stadium’s outside will be a media display featuring huge flexible screens showing news, updates and the current game.
