Qatari initiative “Save the lost Generation”

The Embassy of Qatar in Germany has organized a meeting to discuss the initative set up in March 2015.

In his speech on the March 31st of 2015 at the donation conference in Kuwait, Qatar’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khaled Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya announced his country’s initiative to set up a fund to grant Syrian refugees vocational and educational training in adjacent countries. For that cause, Qatar’s Embassy in Berlin organized a round table meeting for the 8th of September 2015 to discuss the initiative’s draft.

The meeting was hosted by HE the Ambassador of Qatar in Berlin Abdulrahman Bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi. Representatives from Kuwait, UAE, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, France, UNO, UNICEF, OCHA and the Qatari foundation Reach out to Asia (ROTA) participated.

For Qatar, HE Dr. Ahmad Almerakhi, head of the committee for international development in Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, explained the initiative’s goals and their relevance to the group. He emphasized that a loss of an entire generation was to be prevented – a lost generation whose’s right for education and vocational training was ignored.

The participants welcomed Qatar’s efforts to support Syrian refugees and confirmed their support for the initiative.
